Prayer & Fasting Day 11
Read John 11.
John 11 is a powerful story in which Jesus reveals himself as, “The Resurrection and the life” (v. 25). In our journey through John, we have seen Jesus as, “the bread of life” (6:35, 41, 48, 5), “The light of the world” (8:12), “The door” (10:17), “the good shepherd” (10:11, 14), and now we see him as the resurrection and the life.
There are still two more “I am the…” statements to come. Twice in this passage we see, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died” (vv. 21, 32). As you read, allow yourself to be honest and vulnerable with God and let Him know where you have experienced unmet expectations. Express your heart to God the way Mary and Martha did to Jesus. Next listen for the Holy Spirit to speak and show you who Jesus is and how he is moving through your unmet expectations.
As you close your time in prayer, write out who you believe Jesus to be. Beside each statement, write how you have experienced these aspects of who he is within your life. Throughout the day thank God for who Jesus is.
