Prayer & Fasting Day 4

Read John 4.

When we are fasting and praying it is easy to be more sensitive to thoughts about hunger and thirst. Maybe you noticed this as you read today. Both of these are discussed in today’s story of Jesus’ encounter at the well in Samaria. We are too often like the disciples and the woman focused on our appetites instead of our hunger and thirst for spiritual matters.

Pray today that the eternal life in you will become this “well springing up within you” (v.14) so much that you will be broken over the lostness of people. Pray that you will hunger for “the food God has for you to eat” (v.32) which is sharing the “good news.” Pray that “the Lord will open your eyes to see how white the fields are for harvesting” (v35).
