Prayer & Fasting Day 17

Read John 17.

Note the impromptu prayer of Jesus. Can you imagine the room? Jesus teaching, surrounded by disciples in silence anticipating the Teacher’s next words, some leaning in with pure curiosity, some seeking clarity, others trying to suppress the thought of the pain Christ just described.

What does Jesus do? Right in the middle of his talk he lifts his head and begins to talk to his Father. He doesn't wait for a special time of day when he is alone. He just begins to pray to his Father. In his love. Jesus lifts up the disciples, those who are with him currently as well as those who would believe in the future.

The example for us I believe is simple: pray, pray, pray. Do not wait for the “right time,” but rather, if you want to pray, do so.
