Prayer & Fasting Day 13

Feb 1, 2025    Jasper Kent

Read John 13.

We are approaching Jesus’ final moments before he is crucified. The next few chapters are rich with Jesus sharing his heart with his closest friends and with His Father as he speaks of what is to come.

In John 13 we are given a “new commandment” (v.34). “Love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another” (v.34). Jesus makes it clear the mark of a disciple is seen in our love for each other. We know how to love when we experience and believe the love Jesus has for us. He calls us to love the way he has loved. It’s a servant-hearted sacrificial love.

Today I want to encourage us first to experience the love of God. Sit and meditate on the love of Jesus. Think of how he has saved you, gave you life, taught you to live, and promised a future hope. Next, write out names of close people in your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how to demonstrate the love of Jesus today. Lastly, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal resentment, jealousy, bitterness, and unforgiveness in your life towards others. Ask Him to give you a spirit of reconciliation.
