Prayer & Fasting Day 2

Read John 2.

In this chapter, we get two lessons from two different scenes.

First, Jesus meets a practical need even though, at first, He did not seem to think it had anything to do with Him (v.4). Even still, He made Himself available and, by doing so, manifested His glory to the people there and several believed (v.11,23).

Second, Jesus confronts those who were not spiritually minded and thought the sacrifices were just rituals by which to make a profit. When He did this, his disciples were reminded how “Zeal for His house consumed Him” (and should us). As you pray and fast today, ask Holy Spirit to help you see the needs of others and how you can meet those needs and pray they will see the glory of our Lord and believe in Him. Also, pray God will stir your spiritual appetite and passion for the Lord’s house (church) will consume you.
