Prayer & Fasting Day 16
Read John 16.
God is so good! In our reading today, we continue to see the depth of love God has for us as His children. Jesus tells his disciples, “I have much to share with you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth...” (v 12-13).
God knew that Jesus would not be present with us forever, so He made a way for Him to be present with us by giving us the Holy Spirit as our Helper. He did this, not because He had to, but because He wanted to. God did not want you to walk through life alone. If you have surrendered your life to Christ, God loves you so much He gave Himself to live inside you.
As Jesus foretold of his own crucifixion and resurrection, he inspired his disciples that even though they would witness his crucifixion, they would soon experience joy that could never be taken. The last verse given is so beautiful, I dare not summarize. Meditate on this verse: “These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
